If you are bothered by the appearance of the horizontal lines across your forehead, the lines between your eyes, or crow's feet lines but you do not wish to have surgery, BOTOX® may be for you. BOTOX® is injected into the muscles that are responsible for those lines, resulting in relaxation of the muscles and smoothing of the lines. This procedure takes about 5-15 minutes, and the initial effects are seen approximately 48-72 hours later with continued progress for up to 7-10 days. The benefit is temporary and will have to be repeated, usually every 3-4 months.

Contraindications are: Pregnancy, breast feeding, allergy to human albumin, and muscle weakness disorders.

Prior to your injection appointment, it is best to refrain from taking aspirin, Ibuprofen, and other blood thinners such as fish oil and vitamin E for 3-5 days in order to help minimize bruising.

Post injection the injected areas should not be rubbed for 1-1/2 hours, and any strenuous exercise should be avoided for 4 hours.
