Refresh Your Face in Three Easy Ways!!
autumn sparkle
With little or no downtime, he three most convenient treatments for you may be BOTOX® injections, cosmetic fillers such as Radiesse and Juvederm or Sciton Contour TRL ™Laser treatments.

After careful assessment of the overall condition of your skin and the level of improvement you desire,   I will personalize your treatment plan. -Henri P. Gaboriau MD, FACS

What are the different types of dermal fillers?

These are the current generation of dermal fillers: Juvederm™  and Radiesse® are slightly different in howthey are made and
how much they cost.  During your medical evaluation, we will assess the overall appearance of your skin and make a careful recommendation about which filler is the best one for you.

Radiesse® provides both immediate and extended results. Initially, the water based gel helps to fill the wrinkle, line or fold. As this gel begins to dissipate, the calcium based molecules form a scaffold that stimulates the production of collagen and promotes  tissue regeneration.

By replenishing nature's supply of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm™ revitalizes and plumps up the skin, instantly diminishing the
appearance of lines and giving a softer look. One of the great advantages of Juvederm is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. How long Juvederm lasts depends on lifestyle, age, and the injection technique of the practitioner.

Issue: # 20                                          October 28,  2009

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Patients:
Greetings! Happy October!  I don't have to look very far to see piles and patches of pumpkins everywhere on the plateau reminding me that we have entered the
harvest season!!  Even though we do have pumpkins in France, I can't say that I saw many pumpkins as a boy when I was growing up.  Squash maybe, but pumpkins are another story, and to me, they are a symbol of American abundance and the fun of Halloween.

In this issue of Face Forward, I would like to talk about a trio of cosmetic procedures that can give you facial rejuvenation just in time for the holiday season, and with little or no downtime.  The three most effective treatments for you may be BOTOX® injections, cosmetic fillers such as Radiesse® and Juvederm™, and Sciton Contour TRL ™Laser treatments.

I also want to let you know that I am working with another physician to conduct a study regarding the delivery system glycolic peels.  If you are interested in participating in the study, there is no charge, but please call us to find out if you are eligible.  You can participate only if you have not had any chemical or laser peels in more than a year.

It is very important to let you know when I will be out of the office. I am here through October and November, but then Dec 2nd-9th I will be in Bordeaux, France to attend the Symposium de l'esthetique.  Then after the first of the year, from January 8th-17th, I will be in Hawaii to attend the 29th Plastic Surgery Symposium.  I will remind you again of these dates, but it is nice to know now in case you need to set up an appointment with me some time soon.

This time of year I love to cook with apples so I am giving you my recipe for Veal and Apple Autumn stew.  The wine I have selected for this dish is an incredible Syrah- The Long Shadows Sequel 2006. We also have some skin care advice from our aesthetician Raihana! This month we are also happy to announce that we are carrying a new skin care line---Alyria prides itself in its ability to provide its customers with healthier, younger-looking skin.  Happy fall!!

Kindest Regards,
Henri P. Gaboriau M.D., FACS

The Beauty about Botox®

As a person ages, the most common wrinkles appear between
the eyebrows, across the forehead, on the cheeks near the
corners of the eyes "crow's feet", and around the mouth "smoker's lines".  Botox can soften and sometimes eliminate these wrinkles by weakening the muscles causing them.  The use of Botox before wrinkles get too deep can often prevent them altogether. Botox is injected into specific muscles to temporarily disable the muscle action.  The average injection will last for
approximately 3-4 months.

BEAUTY Tip: Raihana Mahan

Replenish Your Skin

Now that the holiday season is growing near and before the parties begin, there are three very important things that you can do to take care of your skin!

Drink plenty of water.  Every day, you should drink 6 to 8 glasses of water.  It is the best way to renew your skin's moisture levels.

Exercise regularly. This will help bring oxygen and nutrients to your skin, and help to eliminate the body's toxins.

Pamper your skin with a steam facial. Steam cleanses your pores, and increases circulation that can restore a healthy natural glow in your cheeks. Simply soak a towel in steaming hot water, let it cool to the point where it's warm on your skin, and then wrap your face with it. Leave it on for a few minutes. Then rinse your skin with cool water.

Our wonderful Aesthetician Raihana Mahan is a Licensed Aesthetician and professional make-up artist in the State of Washington and has extensive experience as a beauty advisor for several cosmetic lines. As a graduate of the Euro Institute, Raihana has a wide range of knowledge and skills, both technical and holistic. Her areas of expertise include skin analysis, Ayurvedic skin typing, aromatherapy, nutrition, detoxification, European facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, photofacial therapy, laser hair removal, acne treatments, facial and body waxing, and lash and browtinting.  Raihana is excited to offer the new HydraFacial™ to our many patients.

Henri's Veal and Apple Autumn Stew

This stew is pure comfort food and the ideal choice to make one of these fall nights when you want to celebrate the harvest season! If you are in the mood for something a bit more spicy, choose sausage that is Cajun-seasoned or loaded with hot pepper.  For a colorful addition, you can add a few slices of green, yellow and red bell peppers. If you would like some extra comfort food, you can add potato gnocchi or any sort of plain dumplings!! --HPG
Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: an hour or so until fork tender
 Makes 4  generous servings!
5 spicy sausage links
2 Tbs chopped parsley
2 Tbs flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp red wine vinegar
1/8 tsp pepper
1 tsp rosemary
1 1/4 lb cubed veal shoulder
4 pegs of garlic, minced
1/4 tsp thyme
2 cups water
