Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
Our Medicare/Medicaid-accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center is composed of an Operating Room, a Recovery Area and a Step-down unit. Our Operating Room is equipped with top-of-the-line surgical and anesthesia equipment to ensure that your procedure is performed in the safest way possible. Surgical procedures can be performed under general anesthesia, IV sedation, or local anesthesia. Dr. Gaboriau will determine with you the type of anesthesia to be used in your procedure. If your procedure requires either general anesthesia or IV sedation, it will be administered by a licensed Anesthesiologist or licensed Nurse Anesthetist.
After completion of your procedure you will be transported to our Recovery Area, which is adjacent to the Operating Room. The Recovery Area is equipped with the best and most up-to-date equipment, and you will be monitored closely by one of our certified recovery nurses during your post-anesthesia period.
When you are ready to eat and drink a light snack you will be transferred to our Step-down unit, adjacent to the Recovery Area. There the Registered Nurse will assist you in dressing and go over your discharge instructions. If your procedure has been performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation, you will need to have someone pick you up and stay with you for the first 48 hours. If your procedure has been performed under strictly a local anesthetic you will be able to drive yourself home after clearance from Dr. Henri P. Gaboriau unless an oral sedative has been given. To ensure total privacy, you will be able to leave the Surgical Suite through a separate and discreet exit.
