Scar Revision

Scar revision is a very sought after surgical procedure. Facial scars, from post mole removal to car accident to dog bites can be very debilitating. Such scars can be indented (depressed), wide, red, or hypertrophic (very thick).

Scar revision entail to remove one scar and replace it by another scar that will be less conspicuous with time. It is unrealistic to think that NO scar will be left.

Several methods can be used, alone or in combination, to achieve the best possible blending of the new scar. Excision of the old scar can take the form of a geometric broken line making the scar less noticeable from afar. Following excision, usually a skin resurfacing procedure is performed over the new scar within 4 to 8 weeks post excision. The method of choice is usually MicroLaserPeel.  It is reasonable to think that the new scar will be less noticeable  than the original one within 4 to 6 months
