Sciton® Micro Laser Peel (MLP) and ProFractional

MLP

  • Indicated for sunspots, overall sun damaged skin, actinic keratosis, seborrheic keratosis and fine wrinkles.

ProFractional

  • Indicated for moderate wrinkles, scars, radial lip lines (also known as smokers' lines) and to increase overall tightening of the skin.

Limitations

  • MLP and/or ProFractional procedures CANNOT replace a facelift or a neck lift. They cannot achieve the results of a lift in terms of decreasing hanging skin or loss of volume. However, they will both help restore the tonicity of the skin.
  • Patients who underwent chemotherapy need to realize that results may not be as expected.  In fact, it may worsen their skin conditions (dryness, extended redness).

Downtime

  • Downtime is directly related to the intensity of the treatment. The more aggressive the treatment is (meaning the depth and power of the treatment), the more downtime will result.  However, better and longer lasting results can be expected.
  • Should you prefer a shorter downtime, the treatment will be more superficial and more than one treatment WILL be required to achieve satisfactory results.
  • Should you choose to achieve great and faster results, only one treatment will be required.  However, the downtime WILL require from 7 to 10 days with redness lasting for a period of approximately 6 weeks.

Neck/Chest/Hands

  • The skin of the neck, chest and hands is very delicate and sensitive to Laser treatments. To avoid any complications such as scarring, the Laser’s computer limits the depth and power that can be used. To achieve desirable results you WILL need SEVERAL treatments (2 to 6 depending on the sun damage) at 4 to 6 week intervals.

Treatment Scales

  • Treatments are divided into LEVELS:
    • Level One (Weekend Peel) will remove light sunspots, very fine wrinkles and will give a refreshed look to the skin. Downtime is only 2 days. You can repeat this peel every 4 to 6 weeks to achieve greater results. Level One can be done under local anesthesia with a mild oral sedative (Lorazepam). Neck/Chest/Hands are always treated with Level One.
    • Level Two. Downtime is approximately 2 to 3 days. You may need 2 to 3 treatments. Level Two can be done under local anesthesia with a mild oral sedative (Lorazepam).
    • Levels Three to Six. Downtime is approximately 5 to 10 days. These Levels need to be performed under IV sedation. Levels Three to Six will achieve the best results.

Long Term Skin Care

  • To keep the benefits of the MLP/ProFractional you will need to incorporate the following steps into your daily regimen:
    • Avoid direct sun. Sun spots may return if exposed to sun without protection
    • Start a daily skin care regimen. Following the Laser peel, you will meet with our Aesthetician who will develop a customized skin care regimen to ensure that you will keep the benefit of the treatment. Failure to take care of your skin may shorten the benefit of the Laser peel.
    • keep the benefit of the treatment. Failure to take care of your skin may shorten the benefit of the Laser peel.
