Vein Therapy:

Broken capillaries, also known as "spider veins" can appear on the face (with or without Rosacea), and/or legs.  Treatments are available, and usually several treatments are needed to achieve resolution of the spider veins. The various treatments available are:

Rosacea:

Rosacea is a skin condition that has multiple origins (heredity, environment, diet, skin care regimen and aging). Usually Rosacea appears in the mid-twenties but the frequency of outbreaks increases with age and sun exposure. The symptoms are usually the following: flushing of the face, breakout of papules, a dry skin appearance, and broken blood vessels. Because this is a skin condition and not a disease the goal is remission of the symptoms, not to "cure" it.

Several treatments are available:

  • Topical antibiotics: Metrogel
  • Topical creams: Azelaic Acid (Finacea), Rosac, Aczone (Dapsone), Visine eyedrops used topically on the red areas.
  • Antibiotics taken orally: Oracea (low dose, time-released Doxycycline)
  • Skin care regimen speficic to Rosacea: Clarisonic Brush and skin care products (HPG line)
  • Chemical Peels: Anti-Redness Calming Peel, Actinage Peel
  • IPL: Intense Pulsed Light (or LHE)
  • Vascular laser: Targeting broken blood vessels.
